Arsenal fans will love what William Saliba's former team-mate has said

Arsenal defender William Saliba has been offered some words of advice from a former team-mate.

Saliba joined the Gunners from Saint-Etienne last year before immediately returning to the French club on loan.

The 19-year-old was tipped for another loan this summer but no move materialised before the deadlines passed.

Saint-Etienne claimed they were close to landing the teenager once again, while Championship sides Brentford and Watford were also said to be keen.

Saliba has not featured for Arsenal so far this term and missed out on a place in their Europa League squad, further limiting his first-team chances.

Saint-Etienne boss Claude Puel recently spoke of his frustration about Saliba's situation.

"A superb player like William, to whom I wish the best, has not even made it to Arsenal’s Europa League squad," Puel told L'Equipe. "Where is the logic, if not financial?

"He had a great desire to join us. The club are a bit like family and friends (to him). His adaptation would have been instant.

"This would have happened if all the conditions had met. It had to remain consistent with our finances and his contract, particularly for the management."

And now Saliba's old Saint-Etienne team-mate Harold Moukoudi has weighed in on the subject.

"I told him not to worry and to keep working," Moukoudi told But! Football Club. "It will pay off. With the qualities he has, I am sure he will bounce back.

"He has enormous potential, no one can deny that. He has to hang on, take his troubles patiently, but he will succeed. It's certain."
