Arsenal fans will love what Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did during Sheffield United draw

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is serving a three-match ban after his red card against Crystal Palace last week.

The striker was shown red after a poor tackle on Palace midfielder Max Meyer, with VAR stepping in to upgrade the yellow card that was originally awarded by the on field referee.

Arsenal appealed against the length of the ban, but were unsuccessful, meaning that the Gabon international will have to sit out three Gunners games as part of his punishment.

The first of them games was the Premier League fixture against Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon. Aubameyang will also miss the midweek clash against Chelsea and the FA Cup fourth round tie against Bournemouth.

He will be able to make his comeback for the Premier League encounter against Burnley at the start of next month.

The Gunners captain watched on from the stands at the Emirates Stadium for the first of the three matches, where Arsenal drew 1-1 with high-flying Sheffield United.

A first-half goal from Gabriel Martinelli gave the Gunners a lead, before John Fleck scored an equaliser in the 83rd minute.

Ahead of the match, Aubameyang spoke about him missing the next three matches.

"I hate having to watch and not being able to lead the side out, but I have got all the confidence this team can get results without me," he said.
