Life at the Emirates for Martin Odegaard has got off to an excellent start with the Real Madrid loanee already an integral part of Mikel Arteta's attacking unit.
The Norwegian international showed during Sunday's remarkable comeback against West Ham that he is fully up to speed with the Premier League and capable of running the game for Arsenal from his attacking midfield role.
He did not get on the scoresheet but his quality, composure, and movement on and off the ball was vital in the way Arsenal fought back from a three-goal deficit after just 32 minutes at the London Stadium
Odegaard's performance was a highlight for Arsenal on Sunday and Arteta was full of praise for his midfielder:
"I think he had an incredible performance, he was very intelligent the way he read the game, the way he affected the game and again he showed how much he wants to win," said Arteta.
"When everyone was a little bit trembling, he gave us that composure on the ball and he created chance after chance.
"I love talented and creative players that all the time are willing to take that ball and make things happen, that are mobile and also hard-working.
"He is one of them. We have some others with different qualities but it's true that Martin is now giving us a different level on certain things that we didn't have."
The respect and admiration is a mutual one with Odegaard lavishing his new boss with compliments when speaking to Norwegian news outlet VG.
"‘Very good. He is incredible,” Odegaard said of Arteta.
“I have a lot to learn from him. I just need to “sharpen my ears” and pay attention. He is fantastic."
With the two men clearly enjoying working with one another this could be key in Arsenal's attempts to sign the 22-year-old on a permanent deal this summer.
A reported fee of £40 million is the figure needed to pry the star from Real Madrid and on current form Odegaard looks worth every penny.
