Arsenal fans will love what Jose Mourinho said about signings of Kieran Tierney and Nicolas Pepe

Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes that Nicolas Pepe and Kieran Tierney are solid additions for Arsenal, although he questioned the capture of Dani Ceballos.

The Gunners spent a club-record fee to land Pepe from Lille and landed Tierney from Celtic on Deadline Day, while Ceballlos was brought in on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid.

Unai Emery's side were certainly active in the summer window, although none of the new recruits were named in the starting line-up for the opening weekend clash against Newcastle United.

It should not be too long until they are drafted into the first-team picture though and Mourinho gave a promising verdict on the Gunners' new recruits.

“I followed Lille a lot. Last season I didn’t want to come to English stadiums after being sacked by Manchester United and I went to Lille many times,” he told Sky Sports.

“I know Pepe quite well and I think he is a very, very talented player but there is always a question mark on the time it takes to adapt, coming to England, he’s French spoken, an African boy who grew up in France. He’s potentially a very good signing for Arsenal.

“Tierney, I think he’s a young Monreal. Same kind of profile, a reliable boy who looks a great character, looks a great personality, looks a little bit like he’s from a previous generation with his way of behaving. I like his profile.

“Ceballos, I think they have another Ceballos in the squad. He is a good player but I think they have others, like Mkhitaryan and Ozil, they can play in different positions on the pitch and have very similar characteristics.”
