Phil Neville says he is expecting "big things" from Arsenal this season, following their business during the summer transfer window.
The Gunners signed six players this summer, with Gabriel Martinelli, William Saliba, Dani Ceballos and Nicolas Pepe joined by deadline day arrivals Kieran Tierney and David Luiz, who joined from Celtic and Chelsea respectively.
And the former Manchester United and Everton man believes the Gunners have made significant strides forward with their summer transfer business, after finishing in fifth position in the Premier League last season.
“I think when Unai Emery came in, most people said he needed time, he needed transfer windows to get what he wanted," Neville said, speaking on BBC programme Match of the Day 2.
“We have seen it in pre-season and again today [against Newcastle], young, fresh, English players, attacking players and the best signing for me is David Luiz.

“We have always said that Arsenal lack personality and character defensively, but David Luiz has got that. Yes he will make mistakes, most centre-backs in the Premier League do, but he has got personality, he is a leader, he has got character, and I expect big things from Arsenal.”
Luiz was an unused substitute as Arsenal beat Newcastle United yesterday (Sunday) in their opening game of the new Premier League season, while Martinelli, Ceballos and Pepe all came off the bench in the 1-0 win.
