New Arsenal defender is delighted that striking duo Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are now on his team.
The former Chelsea man joined the club on a two-year deal, in one of the more surprising moves of the transfer window, leaving Stamford Bridge after his second spell.
The 32-year-old has come up against Arsenal many times during his Premier League career, coming up against players who he will now call his teammates.
Asked by arsenal.com who were the players who gave him the hardest time when facing the Gunners down the years, the Brazilian was clear in his answer.
"It has to be the strikers!" he said. "It was always these opponents I had to try to stop. I’m happy now that I can have Lacazette and Aubameyang on my side, so it’s much easier now!"
Lacazette found the net once against Luiz's old side last season, scoring in the 2-0 home victory in January.
The acquisition of Luiz rounded up a successful transfer window for Arsenal in which they bought in six new players: Gabriel Martinelli, William Saliba, Dani Ceballos, Nicolas Pepe, Kieran Tierney and David Luiz.
The deadline day signings of Tierney and Luiz adding much needed strength to defensive areas of the team, especially after the departure of club captain Laurent Koscielny.
The defender could make his debut in Arsenal's first game of the new Premier League season against Newcastle United on Sunday.
