Arsenal fans will love what Arsene Wenger has said on Patrick Vieira's future role at the club

Arsene Wenger has described former Gunners midfielder Patrick Vieira as a future Arsenal manager.

Vieira took charge of French Ligue 1 club Nice in the summer, moving from New York City, his first venture into club management.

The midfield powerhouse has caught the eye of supporters and given his connection with the Gunners, fans are already getting excited at the prospect of seeing him in the Emirates dugout one day.

Fuel has been further added to the fire by another former legendary manager, Wenger, talking up the idea.

Vieira has never ruled out the potential of joining Arsenal as a manager.

In a recent interview with Canal Football Cub, he said: “I think that every day you dream of managing the team where you once played. I spent time at Inter with Olivier (Dacourt) and it is a club that I really like a lot.

“Arsenal is also a club where I maybe played my best football. Becoming the manager of Arsenal one day, why not.”

This CV has been further strengthened with a glowing endorsement from someone who knows him, and the game, best. Wenger has worked with some of the best players and coaches in the land and clearly think Vieira has what it takes.

Every moment Shkodran Mustafi has cost Unai Emery this season to show he must leave Arsenal

Also speaking with Canal Football Club, he said: “I see him more as Arsenal manager one day (than as the French national team coach). Because he is too young to go directly into a national team. I think that his life will be spent on the club side.”

There you have it, Arsenal fans. As well as Unai Emery is doing at the Emirates, and his job is far from over, would you like to see Vieira in the dugout, sooner rather than later?

It would certainly be an interesting tale. Like Steven Gerrard joining Liverpool, or Frank Lampard moving to Chelsea.

Vieira has Arsenal red running through his veins.
