Arsenal fans will love the part Bukayo Saka played in Aaron Ramsdale’s Gunners transfer

Aaron Ramsdale has revealed that Bukayo Saka played a part in bringing him to the Emirates in the summer.

The Gunners goalkeeper has been a revelation since joining the club in a deal worth £30million in the summer.

He’s already established himself as a fans favourite after keeping three clean sheets in four Premier League games.

Although he did concede a goal to in-form Tottenham forward Son Heung-Min in the North London Derby last month, Ramsdale’s overall performance was convincing, and he made an extraordinary save to stop Lucas Moura’s deflected effort from creeping into the top corner as the Gunners went onto win the clash 3-1.

His performances have earned the 23-year-old a recall to Gareth Southgate’s England squad and as the Three Lions are set to play weaker opposition in the coming days, he could be in line to play against either Andorra or Hungary.

Now, whilst on media duty at St George’s Park, Ramsdale has admitted that Saka was contacted by Mikel Arteta about the potential signing of Ramsdale when the two Englishman were away together at the Euros.

“Agent Saka,” he said, whilst speaking in an interview posted on England’s official YouTube account.

“That’s what he says. He said the manager [Arteta] spoke to him a couple of times and thankfully he gave a good review of me.”

Ramsdale continued by explaining how much he likes Saka as both a player and a person.

“What a guy. He’s just happy. He’s just always happy. What a footballer as well. I’m very happy now he’s on my team at club level.

"When you come here and you’ve got the talent which we’ve got up top and Bukayo’s right in the mix of that. You just can’t help but smile when he’s mentioned or when he’s in the room.”
