Arsenal fans will love Mikel Arteta's response to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang transfer statement

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has continuously been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium.

The Gabonese striker has been one of the Premier League's top hotshots since joining Arsenal in January 2018 and Arsenal fans would be loathe to see him leave.

He does, however, only have one year remaining on his current contract at the Emirates - a point that has been widely publicised, with Gunners supporters keen to know what's going to happen with his future.

Aubameyang has been linked with a host of other clubs including Barcelona, Manchester United and even Chelsea this summer, with only two transfer windows open to Arsenal to get any money for him before he leaves for free next summer, if he doesn't pen a new deal in north London.

The impact of Arsenal's lost match-day income

One team he has not been linked with, for obvious reasons, is relegation-threatened Aston Villa.

But in a Zoom video call with some Arsenal players, head coach Mikel Arteta and academy head Per Mertesacker, Prince William, a Villa fan, questioned Aubameyang about moving to Villa Park.

The video call was set up to discuss mental health issues, with the FA Cup final set to be renamed the Heads Up FA Cup Final after Emirates offered the rights to the final to the campaign.

And the Duke of Cambridge said: "I just wanted to say Pierre that obviously I hope that you're at Aston Villa next year."

Mertesacker, Aubaemyang and Hector Bellerin could then be seen laughing, but Arteta's reaction was slightly different.

The head coach also had a wry smile on his face, but was also seen putting his forefinger in the air and waving it from side to side in a 'no, no. no' action.

Is that an action to ward off any other clubs from making a move? Arsenal fans will be hoping so.
