Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has hailed the impact Mikel Arteta has made at the club, identifying the Pep Guardiola and Arsene Wenger traits he has brought to North London.
The former Gunners captain secured his first win as Arsenal manager with a thrilling 2-0 victory over Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium, kicking the new decade off in style.
Goals from Nicolas Pepe and Sokratis Papastathopoulos sealed a much-needed victory for the North London side, following a draw with Bournemouth and defeat to Chelsea at the start of Arteta's reign.
Keown was full of praise for the Arsenal boss after the win against United, making a comparison with Manchester City boss Guardiola and Arsenal legend Wenger.
“Isn't it amazing what a difference a manager can make?" he told BT Sport.
"Suddenly Sokratis and David Luiz are looking like good defenders, there's a midfield that sits in front, there's good pace on the break.
“You can see the tactical change.
"Guardiola is a genius and it's rubbed off on Arteta. I see some of the Wenger stuff as well, the movement of the ball, one-touch, two-touch.
"It's a combination of Guardiola and Wenger.”
