Arsenal fans want Joe Willock to start vs Bournemouth after Europa League win

Arsenal fans called for Joe Willock to start against Bournemouth this weekend after an impressive performance in the Europa League win over Standard Liege.

Willock scored with an accomplished finish as the Gunners won 4-0 at the Emirates, and fans were pleased with his all-round display, comparing him on Twitter to box-to-box midfielders like Abou Diaby, Fernandinho and Yaya Toure.

The 20-year-old has started just three times in the Premier League so far this season, but has scored against Standard Liege, Nottingham Forest and Eintracht Frankfurt in the past fortnight.

And Arsenal fans called for the midfielder to start in Sunday's Premier League clash against Bournemouth at the Emirates in place of recently named captain Granit Xhaka.

And some thought the performance of the whole team on Thursday could herald a bright future for Arsenal, with several young players impressing including £25million left-back Kieran Tierney and 18-year-old two-goal hero Gabriel Martinelli.

One fan said of 20-year-old Willock: "Joe Willock is the next Yaya Toure. What a machine," while another said: "Joe Willock reminds me of like fernandinho, that proper box to box midfielder. needs a start v bournemouth."

Others compared him to Arsenal favourite Abou Diaby, while many pointed to his scoring record and some suggested that Xhaka having the armband was preventing the likes of Willock from starting on a regular basis.

Gunners fans also poked fun at rivals Tottenham , with one saying Willock was better than Delle Alli, and another highlighting his greater goals contribution than Harry Winks.

Here's what Arsenal fans had to say about Willock:
