Arsenal fans urge Edu to fill attacking hole using £20m windfall before window shuts

The day of transfer madness is nearly here and Arsenal are expected to be busy, although not in the way fans are probably hoping for.

Mikel Arteta and Edu have brought in five players so far, as their attention now turns to shipping people out rather than in.

Several individuals whose futures appear to be away from the Emirates still remain at the club, and there's an acceptance that their situations need to be resolved swiftly.

One of those who is set for the exit door is Willian, with the Brazilian nearing a transfer to Corinthians, football.london understands.

The 33-year-old joined the Gunners last summer and endured a difficult 2020/21 season, scoring just one goal in 34 matches. With game time set to be limited and the player becoming increasingly unsettled, a move away is believed to be best for all parties involved.

With the likes of Bukayo Saka, Nicolas Pepe, Gabriel Martinelli, Emile Smith Rowe, Martin Odegaard and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all regular first-team starters, Arsenal's attacking options out wide remain strong despite Willian's expected departure.

However, many supporters are not convinced and believe a new signing is required in order to replace the former Chelsea man.

Meanwhile, youngster Reiss Nelson is also closing in on a move away, with football.london reporting that Dutch side Feyenoord are attempting to finalise a loan deal for the Englishman.

The latest results from a Twitter poll which I posted on Monday morning, revealed that the majority of fans want the club to bolster the attack before tomorrow's deadline.

At the time of publishing this article, the poll had received 5,691 votes. 69% believe Arsenal should sign an attacking-minded player, whereas 26% do not. 5% are undecided.

The thoughts and feelings amongst supporters are clear, and with the team failing to score a single goal in their opening three league games, I can understand why they want to see more activity.

It remains to be seen if any more incomings do arrive, but reports suggest that the main focus at London Colney right now is to offload.

If those working behind the scenes are successful in creating more room within the squad, then it is my hope that we will see at least one more come through the door.

I like the profile of players that have signed so far, but I fear that it won't be anywhere near enough if we want to see improvements. There is still time to put things right, but it's running out quickly.
