Arsenal fans think they've spotted a William Saliba team news hint for Leicester clash

Arsenal take on Leicester City at the Emirates on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta will be keen for his side to maintain their 100% record at home in the Premier League this season.

The Gunners go into the game having lost to Manchester City last time out, after the international break, and they will know they can leapfrog the Foxes and move into the top four with a win over Brendan Rodgers' side.

Arteta has blooded three of his new faces so far this season, with Willian, Thomas Partey and Gabriel Magalhaes enjoying game time.

Goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson is yet to play a minute, but that is not surprising given he has been brought in as a back-up keeper. However, the absence of William Saliba has stunned some supporters, who were expecting him to make an instant impact in the Premier League.

Arteta has spoken about Saliba's absence, admitting he does not think he is ready to take his place in the starting lineup just yet.

Speaking last month, Arteta said: "He had a year last year where Arsenal loaned him to Saint-Etienne and that was a transition year for him.

"For many reasons, that wasn't the transition year that he needed because he had a lot of injuries, some personal issues and also with Covid and the French league getting cancelled, he didn't have that year.

"He needs that year of transition and we are trying to make the right decisions for him to give him the best transitional year for him to have the player we want in our future."

But Is Saliba closing in on a place in the Arsenal first team squad, and could that come against Leicester?

Prior to the Premier League clash, Arsenal's U23s were in action against Manchester City on Saturday. They lost 4-1, but Saliba was nowhere to be seen.

And some supporters think that is because he is with the first team for the Foxes clash.

Reddit user Juil8991MC said: "Then that means...he's on the bench tomorrow?"

Howizzle90 said: "Will be on the bench tomorrow I would imagine."

Carterxix wsaid: "Imagine he starts after that image the other day of Tierney - Gabriel - Saliba - Bellerin in a back 4, pure baptism of fire."

Meanwhile ungentrified_villain said: "Maybe considering Mustafi is just coming back he hasn't really had any games , I can definitely see him making the bench also Luiz keeps picking up niggling injuries , it might be a good idea to have both Mustafi and Saliba on the bench just incase (sic)."
