Arsenal fans are looking to the future when it comes to the next captain.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang currently has the responsibility of leading the team out each week, and having signed a new contract in the summer, he could continue to do so for the next three years at least.
In the absence of the 31-year-old, the experienced trio of Alexandre Lacazette, Granit Xhaka, and David Luiz have worn the captain's armband this season.
Meanwhile, Hector Bellerin is the current vice-captain, a role he has been in since last season and he's outlined his credentials as one of the leaders within the Arsenal squad.
"People may not see me as this massive guy who shouts on the pitch all the time or what people may have as a captain in their heads," he told the club's official website. "But there are so many different ways of leading a team.
"Since I was young at Barcelona, I would always be one of the three captains in the team. For me, it was a role I’m used to
"Obviously it’s not the same when you’re 14 or 15 as it is now because the responsibility and what you represent is completely different, but it’s always been something that I’ve enjoyed. ‘I enjoy positions of responsibility and I enjoy being the first one on that wall.
"For me, I have been speaking to the coach for a few months and he was telling me that I could be one of the people that could represent the team.
"I was really happy with it because I’m someone who’s been here for a long time and I know how the club runs."
Naturally, if Aubameyang were to leave or decide to pass over the captain's armband before his contract at the Emirates Stadium expires, Bellerin would make the step up.
However, some Arsenal fans have already considered who might be in line to succeed the Gabonese international in wearing the iconic captain's armband - and Kieran Tierney is the one standout contender.
The Scotland international only joined from Celtic last summer, but his reaction at the end of the goalless draw against Leeds United has been duly noted.
At the full-time whistle, a clearly frustrated Tierney confronted Ezgjan Alioski over his role in Nicolas Pepe's sending off and had to be restrained by his teammates and Mikel Arteta's assistant manager Steve Round.
With that said, Arsenal fans loved those scenes and believe he is a future captain of the football club.
