Arsenal fans think Mikel Arteta has made a decision to raise £49.5m ahead of summer window

Arsenal's summer transfer plans are already taking shape.

The January window can be deemed a successful one as Arsenal's main priority was to trim the first-team squad significantly and that was achieved with Shkodran Mustafi, Mesut Ozil, and Sokratis Papastathopoulos all being offloaded permanently.

And there could be some more key players sales and exits come the end of the season as manager Mikel Arteta looks to continue his rebuild at the Emirates Stadium.

As first reported by football.london, the Gunners' squad planning for the summer transfer window is already underway, with several players having uncertainties over their futures at the club.

Alexandre Lacazette and fellow centre-forward Eddie Nketiah both fall into that category and Arsenal are likely to be open to letting both players leave as they are entering into the final year of their contracts at the Emirates Stadium.

With that said, there's a theory amongst some Gunners supporters on Reddit and social media that a definitive decision to cash in on the two players has already been made.

Pointed out by @TheArsenalog on Twitter, Nketiah's lack of matchday squad inclusions since the end of January and Lacazette's reduced game time in recent weeks has prompted fans to believe both will be gone in the summer.

goonerfan10Martinelli said: "Laca still has a role to play this season. They're both definitely gone in the summer."

marxistrash said: "We have to sell Laca, with our finances the way they are we can't afford to let anyone go for free, and I don't see us offering Lacazette a nice new contract."

Broda10 said: "Good for Nketiah, he should be sold."

zorfog said: "I feel like both should be sold in the summer. I love Lacazette but he’s getting old and if we don’t cash in now we’ll find ourselves in another situation where we’ve got a player in his 30s on high wages we can’t sell.

"Nketiah, I don’t think will ever be good enough to be our first choice striker."

A decision to sell Lacazette and/or Nketiah could be key to Arsenal's summer plans as any money received could fund a deal for a new striker.

If buyers can be found, the Gunners could be set for a cool £49.5m windfall as per their market values on transfermarkt.

Offers of (£31.5m) for Lacazette and £18m for Nketiah could be too hard to resist and would represent a great piece of business from the club as both players are out of contract at the end of next season.
