Arsenal fans have had their say on who should be the next club captain.
Current captain Laurent Koscielny is likely to be stripped from the role following his decision to refuse to accompany his teammates on the club's pre-season tour of America.
As reported by football.london , the Frenchman has asked Unai Emery to release him from his contract to enable him to return to his home country, and has now left the club shocked in his refusal to travel on the tour.
The club will now open disciplinary proceedings against the club captain, which will almost certainly see him lose the armband for the forthcoming season.
That means that Emery now has a big decision to make, who should replace Koscielny as captain?
Football.london put the question to Arsenal fans via social media.
Fans were given four options; Granit Xhaka, Mesut Ozil, Hector Bellerin, or fans could make a suggestion of their own.
According to the Arsenal fans, right-back Hector Bellerin would be the most popular choice to take over the role, with 51% of the supporters asked voting for the Spaniard. Bellerin was an ever present last season until a cruciate ligament injury put an early end to his season.
The second most voted choice was Midfielder Granit Xhaka, who secured 26% of the vote.
Mesut Ozil was the least popular choice, with just 10%, with other suggestions from fans including Alexandre Lacazette and Sokratis.
Arsenal have travelled to America, without their club captain. Their first pre-season friendly is against MLS side Colorado on July 16th.
