Arsenal fans spot hilarious Granit Xhaka and Stephan Lichtsteiner moment for Switzerland

Arsenal midfielder Grant Xhaka has been reunited with former Gunners' teammate Stephan Lichtsteiner while on international duty for Switzerland.

Lichtsteiner left the Emirates Stadium in the summer, after the club decided not to take up an option to extend his contract, he played 23 times in all competitions for Arsenal in his one year at the club.

The full back now plays for Bundesliga side FC Augsburg where he has featured in all but one of their league matches, missing one through a red card suspension after being given his marching orders in just his second league game.

Xhaka has been officially named as Arsenal captain in recent weeks, but the Swiss midfielder has come in for a lot of criticism from Arsenal fans for his performances so far this season.

The 27-year-old has also played in all but one of his club's league games this season, but is just one yellow card away from picking up a one game suspension.

Both players were in international action on Saturday, with both being named in the nation's starting lineup for the European qualifier against Denmark, a game in which they could find no way past Kasper Schmeichel in a 1-0 loss.

There is one particular moment of the game that is likely to raise a smile to Arsenal fans' faces. Spotted by users on Reddit , Switzerland free kick had both players standing over it, as they looked to cross into the box.

However, there must have been some miscommunication between the duo, with both running up to the ball but stepping over it, Xhaka then retraces his steps, but looks unsure if he should take the free kick himself.

The whole moment results in a routine that is more akin to a dance that would look more at home in a ballroom than a football pitch.

Both Xhaka and Lichtsteiner will be hoping to avoid a repeat of the situation when Switzerland take on Ireland on Tuesday.
