Arsenal fans send support to Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo after death of son

Arsenal fans have held a minute's applause for Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo following the death of his newborn son.

With seven minutes on the clock, supporters in the Emirates Stadium rose to their feet to applaud Ronaldo – back in the United side for the first time since the death of his newborn son.

United's number seven, along with his partner Georgina Rodriguez released a short statement to their social media profiles confirming the tragic news that their newborn son had died shortly after she had given birth to twins. Thankfully, their baby daughter survived.

Liverpool fans sent a similar message of support earlier in the week at Anfield, with thousands rising to their feet and applauding in the seventh minute of the game. They also sung an emotional chorus of You'll Never Walk Alone .

Arsenal needed less than three minutes to break the deadlock against Man United on Saturday afternoon, United’s defence all over the shop as both Raphael Varane and Diogo Dalot failed to clear a simple cross, allowing Bukayo Saka a shot on goal.

David De Gea did well to palm the effort away but Nuno Tavares was on hand, reacting quicker than Alex Telles to pop in the rebound.
