Arsenal fans send message to former Tottenham star Marcus Edwards after late Vitoria winner

Arsenal qualified for the Europa League knockout round after a 2-2 draw with Standard Liege.

At one stage, Freddie Ljungberg's side trailed by two goals and looked destined to finish as runners-up to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Gunners needed to win to guarantee top spot, but goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Bukayo Saka secured a point which was enough after Eintracht were beaten 3-2 by Vitoria.

The Bundesliga side had led 2-1 until the 85th minute and were set to top the group, theoretically guaranteeing them an easier tie in the next ground.

But Ali Elmusrati scored an equaliser, before former Tottenham forward Marcus Edwards netted a winner two minutes later.

Despite his roots at their north London rivals, Arsenal fans took to social media to thank the winger for his decisive goal in Germany.

The former Spurs academy product moved to the Portuguese side on a permanent basis in the summer after previous loan spells at Norwich City and Dutch side Excelsior.

The 21-year-old also spent time training with Brentford in the summer, but a move did not materialise before deadline day and instead it would be Primeira Liga outfit Vitoria who took the chance on the young midfielder.

And Edwards has already started to pay back their faith, with two goals and three assists so far this season.
