Arsenal fans send Gabriel Martinelli message to Mikel Arteta after what happened in training

Arsenal supporters have taken to social media to react to Gabriel Martinelli scoring a goal in training.

The Brazilian has endured a somewhat of a stop-start 2020/21 campaign after returning from a knee injury - that curtailed his impressive first season in English football earlier than would have liked - back in January.

After featuring as a substitute in a 2-1 loss at Everton, Martinelli started Arsenal's next three games across all competitions, including wins over Chelsea and Brighton.

However, an injury suffered in the warm-up against Newcastle United in the FA Cup third round appears to have altered Mikel Arteta's plans for the forward.

Since the end of January, Martinelli hasn't started a single game and went seven games without making an appearance in the Premier League.

But in recent weeks, the teenager has seen more game time.

He has come off the bench in the last three games in a row and is in contention to feature on Thursday night when Arsenal host Slavia Prague in the Europa League quarter-final first-leg.

It remains to be seen if the Brazilian is handed a rare start, but judging by what he did in training on Tuesday, it's clear that he will be ready if selected.

As uploaded to the Arsenal Twitter account, a video shows Martinelli cutting in from the left-hand side and curling his effort into the net.

Seeing the Brazilian looking sharp ahead of the big game at the Emirates Stadium has prompted a large number of fans to plead with Arteta to hand the teenager a start.
