Arsenal fans send Calum Chambers message to Mikel Arteta after Hector Bellerin display vs Spurs

Arsenal are in the midst of the biggest squad rebuild in recent memory.

The Gunners have already added Nuno Tavares, Ben White and Albert Sambi Lokonga to the ranks this summer and don't appear to be done just yet, with the likes of James Maddison, Tammy Abraham and Bruno Guimaraes all being linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium this month.

Still, technical director Edu must also offload several underperforming senior players given Arsenal have failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League in each of the last five seasons.

Spanish defender Hector Bellerin is one of the players reportedly available this summer, with football.london reporting back in May that the north London club would like to add a new right-back to their ranks before the window shuts on August 31.

Reigning Italian and Spanish champions, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid have both been mooted as potential destinations for the 26-year-old but neither team have made an acceptable proposal as of yet, meaning that Bellerin could still be plying his trade with Mikel Arteta's side this term.

However, the Gunners' faithful have grown frustrated with his form in pre-season and several fans flocked to social media to voice their frustrations with the Spaniard's performance against Spurs on Sunday.

Here is how a select few on Twitter reacted to his display.

@YTNoodleV2 : "Chambers is a huge upgrade on Bellerin."

@Princedebbyng : "Bellerin link up with Pepe is so poor, now I understand why Arteta prefer Chambers. Pepe is suffering. We need a creative midfield."

@AFC_CP14 : "HT thoughts : Lokonga and White have been excellent and settled extremely well! Bellerin has to be sold seems hopeless at times and Leno proves why he’s no1 with his shot stopping but shows why he has his doubters through his distribution."

@ArtetazBoyz : "I’d take Lee Dixon as a replacement for Bellerin and he’s about 50 years of age."

@Yhungpapi : "Bellerin and Pablo Mari should not be in this team if we are serious."

Bellerin has been criticised by some fans for his inconsistent passing in the build-up phase and inability to deliver crosses into the box given he has registered just three assists across the last two Premier League campaigns.
