Arsenal fans see 'confidence levels drop' after huge injury blow ahead of Leeds United clash

Arsenal fans are fearing the worst against Leeds United after Thomas Partey was ruled out with a thigh injury.

The Gunners' summer signing has impressed supporters already after arriving from Atletico Madrid.

However, heading to Elland Road on Sunday, the Ghanian won't feature after Mikel Arteta revealed Partey sustained a knock on international duty.

"No, he picked up an injury very early in the game he tried to carry on and he wanted to play the second half and we knew it was a significant injury," Arteta told Football.London.

Arsenal's poor attacking output could help Leeds!

"He has done really well, he is working very hard and he wants to be available. Hopefully, we can get him back soon but it is an area where we have to be careful and a bit protective with the player."

With Egyptian teammate Mohamed Elneny also unavailable after testing positive for COVID-19 on international duty, Arsenal fans are concerned about a potential central midfield duo of Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos against Leeds' high press.

On what he is expecting from Leeds United on Sunday, Arteta said: "That they will go full gas like they always do and they have had two weeks to prepare for the game, they don’t have as many internationals as us and I don’t expect them to change too much.

"They are very loyal to their principles, to the way the play and they approach every game the same way, which is to win and to be very aggressive with and without the ball and try to win.

"It doesn’t matter where they play, what I have seen from them in the last season, it is not a concern about who they play against, it is about what they do."

Leeds are without a win in their last two matches after back-to-back 4-1 Premier League defeats to Leicester City and Crystal Palace.
