Arsenal fans say the same thing about Aubameyang and Martinelli ahead of Everton clash

Arsenal have been rocked by the loss of star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead of the clash with Everton at Goodison Park this afternoon.

After finally ending his goal-scoring drought against Southampton on Wednesday evening, the Gabon international has been ruled out of the clash with the Toffees because of a calf problem.

The loss of the former Borussia Dortmund man will have come as a massive blow to Mikel Arteta on his return to Merseyside, with scoring goals having proven to be a big issue for the Gunners so far this season.

In his absence, the responsibility of trying to put the ball in the net will fall to Nicolas Pepe, Eddie Nketiah and Willian, who spearhead the front-three.

Mikel Arteta reacts to third red card in five games

While the loss of Aubameyang has sent fears in the direction of the Gunners supporters ahead of kick-off, now that they're wondering where the goals will come from, they have, at least, received some good news.

For the first time this season, Brazilian sensation Gabriel Martinelli has been named on the bench. The youngster has been sidelined with a serious knee injury since June and was not expected to see any sign of first-team action until the other side of Christmas.

However, he, alongside fellow youngster Emile Smith Rowe, has made the matchday 20, meaning Arteta has attacking options on the bench to call upon.

His return to the squad has been met with waves of excitement from the supporters, who have quickly taken to social media to welcome him back into the squad. At the same time, though, no shortage of them are frustrated by the loss of Aubameyang.

Here is what some Arsenal fans have had to say on Twitter ahead of kick-off.

Of the 11 goals Arsenal have scored in the Premier League so far this season, Aubameyang has scored three of them, meaning they have lost a fairly large proportion of their goals.
