Arsenal fans revel in Sir Alex Ferguson admission which stuns gutted Manchester United supporters

Arsenal supporters have been given serious ammunition by none other than Sir Alex Ferguson. The debate as to which is English football’s greatest ever achievement has raged for the best part of nearly two decades between the Gunners supporters and those from Manchester United.

The treble achieved by Ferguson’s United side in 1999 was by far the greatest accolade of any side when they reached the feet before the millennium.

However, Arsene Wenger went on to win the league in 2004 with Arsenal without losing a single game. He and his side of what would become known as ‘The Invincibles’ won 26 games, drew 12 and lost exactly none.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United supporters have continued to debate which achievement is greater and now Sir Alex Ferguson’s comments in the trailer for Arsene Wenger’s documentary have given fans cause for celebration.

In the trailer, Ferguson is seen saying, "The achievement stands above everything else." Said in regard to the invincible season of 2003/04.

The documentary, set for release on the 11th of November in cinemas, will cover the career of Wenger on both a professional and social level.

Ferguson features in the film alongside some Arsenal greats. Dennis Bergkamp is seen commenting about the departure of Wenger from Arsenal which will prove to be another great piece of content in the documentary,

Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry are also seen having their say on their former French coach. Both were involved in the side that went unbeaten in the mid-2000s.

Ferguson’s relationship has developed into a much friendlier affair than what the pair shared during their time as adversaries in the league. Ferguson will always be known as one of, possibly the greatest, head coaches of all time, but the Wenger admission will bring joy to many Gunners fans.

In addition, the documentary is set to cover the birth, development and end of the duo’s famous battles. The incident at Old Trafford in 2003 as Ruud van Nistelrooy struck the bar in the final moments as Arsenal drew 0-0 taking a big focus of the trailer.

Lastly, there were scenes of Wenger’s departure and the pressure applied to the club from fans through protests. Whether Ferguson has his say on the Frenchman’s exit and the circumstances which surround it is yet to be seen.

Wenger’s autobiography, which was published last year, revealed little that fans did not already know, the film promises much, and the possibility of future secrets being told is exciting fans greatly.
