Arsenal fans planning protest against Stan Kroenke amid European Super League debacle

Arsenal fans are planning a protest against owner Stan Kroenke ahead of their Premier League game against Everton on Friday night.

Supporters on social media have claimed the protest is "dedicated to getting Kroenke out of our club" amid widespread criticism following their attempts to join the Super League.

Kroenke, one of many American owners within the top six clubs, has long endured a difficult relationship with the Gunners fans.

The businessman, who also owns NFL franchise the Los Angeles Rams, is rarely seen at games and has been accused of having little interest in the club's fortunes.

An open letter was sent to fans when Arsenal announced their plans to withdraw from the Super League following huge fan backlash.

A protest will be staged against the ownership of Stan Kroenke (PA)

The letter was signed off by the "Arsenal board" which consists of Kroenke himself, his son Josh, director Lord Harris of Peckham and non-executive director Tim Lewis.

Arsenal have received an element of praise for their willingness to apologise and admit their mistake - a move no other club took in their initial statement.

The letter read: "The last few days have shown us yet again the depth of feeling our supporters around the world have for this great club and the game we love.

"We needed no reminding of this but the response from supporters in recent days has given us time for further reflection and deep thought.

"It was never our intention to cause such distress, however when the invitation to join the Super League came, while knowing there were no guarantees, we did not want to be left behind to ensure we protected Arsenal and its future.

"As a result of listening to you and the wider football community over recent days we are withdrawing from the proposed Super League. We made a mistake, and we apologise for it."

This is not the first time Arsenal fans have protested against Kroenke's ownership of the club following the #WeCareDoYou movement which occurred in July 2019.
