Arsenal fans on former Celtic star Kieran Tierney one day captaining club

For the second successive game following the resumption of English Premier League football, Kieran Tierney has impressed Arsenal fans.

The former Celtic left-back is winning over fans while most of his team-mates disappoint, with Arsenal supporters on social media applauding his performances in the midweek 3-0 defeat against Man City and the 2-1 loss to Brighton on Saturday.

23-year-old Tierney, who has represented Scotland 12 times, returned to action for Mikel Arteta's side against City after a long-term injury and has given fans some hope for the future.

Following the Brighton defeat @claudewuAFC tweeted: "If Aubameyang is leaving the club, who should take the armband ? Personally I will go for Kieran Tierney. Granit Xhaka is another good candidate, but I am pretty sure he is not a popular option for many."

That sparked debate among fans, with @Hamza_AFC saying "Xhaka for me now. Tierney later on" and @sam67306018 adding "I like Tierney but he is too young to have that much responsibility".

Many suggested that the armband could be worn by Héctor Bellerín or goalkeeper Bernd Leno, but @curtis_harper said: "Kieran Tierney is the only player in that squad who I would consider has the characteristics to be club captain."

Arsenal's current state was summed up by @Creed_1988, who tweeted: "Tierney is going to be brilliant, but how bad is it that you come to a club as big as arsenal and you get made captain after a few games?"
