Arsenal fans noticed what Virgil van Dijk did before Alexandre Lacazette's goal vs Liverpool

Arsenal fans have been reacting to Alexandre Lacazette's equaliser against Liverpool.

The Frenchman made the most of a rare first-half attack for the Gunners as he latched onto a loose back pass and rounded Alisson Becker before finding the back of the net.

It's Lacazette's third goal in four appearances, finding form just before the season concludes.

However, he owes a great deal of gratitude to Reds defender Virgil van Dijk.

The Netherlands international - regarded by many as the best in the world in his position - was caught in possession near his own box and didn't get enough power on his back pass.

He did suggest being pulled back by Reiss Nelson in the build-up to the goal, but VAR didn't overrule the decision - much to the delight of those connected to the north London outfit.

And it got even better before half-time as another mistake from a usually reliable figure in the Reds backline gifted the Gunners the lead.

Alisson's sloppy pass allowed Lacazette to repay the favour to Nelson as the Arsenal youngster - in ahead of captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - slotted home for his first ever Premier League goal.

Although, much of the reaction has centered around van Dijk's mistake.

Take a look at what's been said on Twitter...

Speaking ahead of the game, Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta was quite complimentary of the Dutchman.

“The market Liverpool had in the previous seasons, the goals they were conceding and how they were conceding those goal, some [were] individual errors, set pieces as well, for example," the Spaniard said.

"The moment they touched the spine of the team, that changed dramatically. Same team, same players, same amount of arrivals in the final third, same recovery time after losing possession, but completely different numbers.

"So, that’s a quick fix.

"You get one of the best defenders in the world with one of the best goalkeepers in the world and one of the best holding midfielders in the world and you change pretty quickly. You can see that at City when Laporte came in.

“That’s the way I believe a team has to be built."
