Arsenal fans noticed what Thomas Partey did before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's goal vs Burnley

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted Arsenal's opener against Burnley, and Willian claimed the assist.

But most of the credit has landed on the shoulders of midfielder Thomas Partey.

Recalled to the Arsenal starting XI for the first time since the 1-0 loss against Aston Villa a month ago, the Ghana international has resumed his partnership in the engine room alongside Granit Xhaka.

And he played a huge role in the Gunners taking the lead after just six minutes at Turf Moor with Aubameyang - also back in the starting XI - squeezing an effort past Clarets goalkeeper Nick Pope at his near post.

Picking up the ball deep in his own half, a simple body feint from Partey causes Burnley's Matej Vydra to lose balance momentarily.

That allows the 27-year-old to then speed up Arsenal's attack.

After swapping passes with Xhaka, Partey plays the ball into Willian's path who is afforded plenty of space to run into before slipping in Aubameyang to do the rest.

Whilst Partey won't get any credit when the statistics surrounding the goal are released, without his brilliant piece of play the Gunners may not have broken the deadlock as early as they did.

Luckily, some eagle-eyed Arsenal fans noticed what Partey did before Aubameyang's goal and has been the toast of many on social media for the 'pre-pre-assist'.

Take a look at what's been said on Twitter...

@PaddyArsenal said: "Partey at the start of that move, unbelievable player."

@A1ZH4RY said: "Great build up from the 1-2 between Xhaka and Partey."

@bradjrr said: "That goal was made by Partey and Xhaka. Willian with another ASSIST and Auba with a cool finish...
