Arsenal fans noticed what Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did as Mikel Arteta is handed major blow

Arsenal supporters are keeping busy during the international break by keeping an eye on how their players are getting on with their respective countries.

Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is one of several Gunners stars that has been selected for international duty and he was in superb form on Thursday evening.

The 31-year-old struggled in his last appearance for Arsenal against West Ham and was substituted with the side still chasing an equaliser.

But a break from club action might have been just what Aubameyang needed as he inspired Gabon to a 3-0 win over DR Congo to seal their place at next year's Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Mikel Arteta on Gabriel Martinelli getting his chance

Not only did Aubameyang get on the scoresheet in the 86th minute, but he also claimed an assist for Denis Bouanga.

And to the delight of many, both goal contributions have been praised by Gunners supporters on Reddit.

22goblins said: "That's a hell of a pass. Hopefully, this run of time will help him find his legs for good easy football again."

_CASE_Tierney said: "Found his shooting boots. They were in Africa."

RianKrad said: "What a freaking touch to control the free-kick and finish. Such a clean goal."

srajar4084 said: "Maybe this international break can be good for Auba."

With that said, Aubameyang's star performance for Gabon has handed Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta a major blow for next season.

As mentioned above, Gabon will now be competing in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations which takes place in January and February 2022.

This means, depending on how far Gabon go in the tournament, Arteta could be without his star man for up to a month next season.
