Arsenal fans noticed what Mohamed Elneny did in the absence of Liverpool star Mo Salah for Egypt

Mohamed Salah's absence from the Egypt team to face Togo will be a concern for Liverpool supporters.

The frontman was missing as a result of a positive Covid-19 test while on international duty and could miss the Reds' next game against Leicester City when the Premier League returns next weekend.

Salah is undoubtedly one of Liverpool's key men, but on international duty, he is Egypt's talisman too.

But without him, they managed to pick up a much-needed victory in their African Cup of Nations qualifier against Togo.

Having drawn their opening two Group G games against Kenya and Comoros, Egypt needed three points against Togo and they got them thanks to Mahmoud Hamdy's solitary strike in the 54th minute.

But that strike came courtesy of another Prmeier League man - Mohamed Elneny.

The Arsenal star has been a revelation for the Gunners this season, coming in from the cold to become an integral part of Mikel Arteta's midfield.

And he proved his worth in the national team with the assist for that Hamdy goal to claim all three points against Togo.

A free-kick almost on the byline made its way across almost to the other byline where Elneny did not give up on it, lofting the ball back in the box for Hamdy to head home.

The assist was picked up by the Arsenal Reddit page, with user Skmossberg51 saying: "Partey and Elneny is our best pivot. Now Elneny is contributing to goals for club and country. Come on Arsenal."

Meanwhile on Twitter @FPLMoAuba said: "ElNeny Assist."
