Arsenal fans noticed what Martin Odegaard did before Nicolas Pepe's goal against Leicester City

Martin Odegaard didn't start Arsenal's 3-1 win over Leicester City, but fans have singled him out for some special praise.

Having played three days ago in the Europa League against Benfica - in Athens nonetheless - Gunners manager Mikel Arteta opted to make six changes from the team that started at the Karaiskaki Stadium.

That meant Odegaard along with the likes of captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hector Bellerin, Bukayo Saka, and Dani Ceballos were named on the bench, while Gabriel Magalhaes did not even travel.

However, the Norway international was called into action shortly before half-time as he replaced the injured Emile Smith Rowe.

Within minutes of coming on, Odegaard saw his side take the lead thanks to Alexandre Lacazette's penalty and was heavily involved in Nicolas Pepe's goal early in the second half.

Most of the credit will land at the feet of Willian for the assist - his second of the afternoon - but some eagle-eyed Gunners supporters noticed what happened before Pepe scored.

Odegaard, who was surrounded by Leicester defenders on the edge of the box, kept the move alive by somehow playing the ball out to Willian after receiving a pass from the Ivorian.

Such was the perfect weight of pass that Willian - albeit via a deflection - was able to square the ball to Pepe for the easiest of tap-ins and secure all three points for the visitors.

And Odegaard has been the toast of many Arsenal fans on social media for the 'pre-assist'.

Take a look at what's been said on Twitter...

@gunnerpunner said: "Odegaard plays those passes that make you think “what is he doing?” right after he passes it before you then see what he saw."

@GTalksArsenal said: "Jheeeeez! Pepe, Odegaard, Willian and Pepe with the Tap In! Loving it."

@scoutingindoors said: "Odegaard really is the difference in those moments isn’t he."
