Arsenal fans spotted what Folarin Balogun did as Mikel Arteta and Edu close in on big deal

Folarin Balogun has only made five appearances for Arsenal at first team level.

But the 19-year-old striker is one of the most talked about players among the Gunners' fan base, with Balogun tipped for a bright future after shining in the club's academy in recent seasons.

Balogun has been prolific at various age groups at Arsenal and his form has not gone unnoticed, with the teenager attracting attention from clubs across the Premier League and across Europe as speculation has intensified over his future.

Interest in his signature has been heightened in recent months with his current deal in north London set to expire in less than three months' time, allowing him to enter into negotiations with any of Arsenal's rivals over a new deal.

However, Balogun is now on the brink of signing a new deal at the Emirates Stadium, with technical director Edu set to hand manager Arteta a huge boost ahead of the summer transfer window.

And Arsenal fans are getting excited after seeing Balogun get on the scoresheet again for the Gunners' U23 side this evening against Derby County in a 3-2 win for his side.

Here's what they have been saying on social media.

Balogun's goal was the second on the night for Arsenal, drawing the Gunners level for a second time in the game after Kido Taylor-Hart's strike, before an own goal from Derby's Joseph Bateman saw the Gunners emerge victorious.

It was an important win for the Gunners in Premier League 2, with Arsenal staying in tenth place in the table, but moving seven points clear of West Ham and Leicester City near the bottom of the division.

Balogun will be hoping that his performances at U23 level will send a timely reminder to Arteta about his talent, with the teenager looking to add to his five appearances this season at first team level.

Four of those have come in the Europa League, with Balogun finding the net twice against Molde and Dundalk.

And Arsenal fans will be hoping to see his name as a regular on the scoresheet for many years to come for the Gunners.
