Arsenal fans noticed Mesut Ozil's crucial role in Nicolas Pepe's goal against Manchester United

Mesut Ozil's future at Arsenal has been one of the long term topics of note at the Emirates Stadium.

Ever since signing his new deal in January 2018, it has seemed a matter of time until the German playmaker might be on his way out of North London, with his form failing to match expectations.

In successive transfer windows, the former Real Madrid star has been linked with a move away, only for his high wages to prove a stumbling block in any negotations.

But under Mikel Arteta, is that all set to change?

The 31-year-old did not seem to have the best of relationships with Unai Emery, but has made a flying start to Arteta's reign at the Emirates Stadium.

The manager has spoken previously about getting the best from the midfielder , and his creative nature is one of the top aspects of his game.

But against Manchester United, the midfielder showed something often overlooked - his phenomenal work rate.

Ozil tracked back to the right side of defence to win the ball from a counterattacking United side, with the Gunners putting together a flowing move and Nicolas Pepe knocking the ball past David de Gea - something the fans were well aware of.

It's still early in Arteta's time as Arsenal manager, but fans will hope to see more of the industry Ozil showed against United to add to his incredible playmaking ability.
