Arsenal fans notice suspicious Spotify decision amid Daniel Ek £1.8billion takeover bid

Arsenal fans noticed that Spotify has hiked up its prices on the same day CEO Daniel Ek launched a £1.8billion takeover bid.

A section of the Gunners fanbase has for a long time protested against Stan Kroenke's ownership of the Emirates club.

But things came to a head last week when Arsenal announced it had signed up to the controversial European Super League alongside 11 other clubs.

The announcement was met with universal backlash, including fan protests, prompting Arsenal to U-turn.

Amid the furore, long-time Arsenal fan and Spotify founder Ek tweeted: "As a kid growing up, I've cheered for Arsenal as long as I can remember. If KSE would like to sell Arsenal I'd be happy to throw my hat in the ring."

The tweet caught the attention of Arsenal fans.

And it seems Spotify's decision to hike the price of its Premium Family package from £14.99 to £16.99 per month after April 30 has also not gone unnoticed.

One Gunners supporter tweeted: "Spotify increase prices by £2 a month on the same day he announces plans to buy Arsenal. A coincidence? I think not."

Another added: "I just bought Spotify premium, take my money and buy Arsenal."

Despite the excitement among Arsenal fans, Mirror Football understands that the Kroenke's have no intention of selling the club.

This was confirmed by owner Stan's son Josh at a Fans Forum before Ek's tweet and their stance hasn't changed since the announcement and the speculation it has generated.
