Arsenal fans name their top target in the January transfer window - and it's not Wilfried Zaha

The January transfer window will be open for business in three weeks - and Arsenal fans are hoping for some new additions.

The Gunners are still searching for a permanent successor to Unai Emery, who was sacked last month by the Gunners, with Freddie Ljungberg placed in interim charge.

But there are still plenty of players who have been linked with a move to north London as Arsenal look to try and get their push for a top four finish back on track, with the Gunners currently seven points behind Chelsea in fourth after 16 games.

Several Arsenal players have been linked with moves away, including Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira, but there are also rumours about potential incomings at the Emirates Stadium too, with the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Hakim Ziyech linked with the Gunners in the summer.

Everything you need to know about the January transfer window

But what do the Arsenal fans want?

Well, we asked, and the Arsenal fans have been telling football.london what they think the Gunners need in the winter transfer window.

In a fan survey to poll supporters' thoughts on potential signings in the future, they were asked which positions needed the most attention, the one footballer they would like to see signed by Arsenal and the best and worst of the transfer rumours they had heard so far.

And the player who came out on top as the one Gunners fans would most like to sign was Dayot Upamecano.

The French defender currently plays for RB Leipzig, but has been heavily linked with a move to north London.

Arsenal fans are hoping that will be sooner rather than later, according to the results of our poll, with Upamecano polling 29.32% of the votes to the question of which player supporters would like to see join in January, if only one player could be signed.

No other player polled more than ten per cent, with Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi second on the list with 9.09% of the vote.
