Arsenal fans name strongest line-up to face Leeds United with surprise choice in midfield

Arsenal will return to Premier League action after the international break with a tough test against Leeds United at Elland Road.

Mikel Arteta 's side have made a disappointing start to their domestic campaign, losing four of their opening eight matches.

Their main problems have been in front of goal where they have struggled to pose a threat, having failed to score from open play in their last four Premier League outings.

Despite this, it has not been all doom and gloom for Arsenal with new arrivals Gabriel Magalhaes and Thomas Partey impressing so far.

Mohamed Elneny 's resurgence has also strengthened the side as the Gunners look to hit form and close the gap to the division's top five.

football.london gave readers the opportunity to select their strongest Arsenal side ahead of the trip to Leeds, and the most popular starting eleven sees the Egyptian preferred in midfield to Granit Xhaka.

He has made five appearances in the Premier League this season and played the entirety of Arsenal's impressive victory at Manchester United last month.

Partey and Dani Ceballos make up the rest of the midfield trio, behind an attacking trident of Bukayo Saka, Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with the Gabonese striker deployed centrally.

Supporters have called for the 31-year-old to return to his favoured position in recent weeks after experiencing limited success in front of goal from out wide.

In defence our readers opted for Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney in the full-back positions, flanking an all-Brazilian centre-back pairing of Gabriel and David Luiz.

Bernd Leno was predictably selected between the sticks ahead of Runar Alex Runarsson, who joined over the summer from Dijon as a replacement for the outgoing Emiliano Martinez.
