Arsenal fans loved what Hector Bellerin did during the pre-season win over Colorado Rapids

Hector Bellerin's popularity amongst Arsenal fans is showing no signs of wavering.

Some are of the opinion that he should be named the next Gunners captain following Laurent Koscielny's decision to snub the pre-season tour to the United States in a bid to force a move away during the summer transfer window.

Whilst that decision ultimately rests with Unai Emery, the Spaniard did include his compatriot in the 29-man squad which travelled last Thursday.

However, Bellerin didn't feature in the 3-0 win over Colorado Rapids in the early hours on Tuesday (UK time) and is not expected to play any part in other pre-season friendlies against Bayern Munich, Fiorentina and Real Madrid.

This is because he's still working his way back towards full fitness.

The right-back has been out of action since damaging his anterior cruciate ligament in the 2-0 victory over Chelsea in January and could miss the beginning of next season.

With that said, Bellerin's trip to the States hasn't been a total waste of time.

Firstly, he's stepped up his rehabilitation by kicking a ball again for the first time in 177 days since suffering that knee injury and spent the evening in a pub surrounded by Arsenal fans watching the team win.

He even sung a few songs and genuinely seemed to be having the time of his life.
