Arsenal fans loved what Gabriel Martinelli did before Kieran Tierney scored against Norwich

Gabriel Martinelli may not have got on the scoresheet during Arsenal's 5-0 win over Norwich City, but his contribution to Kieran Tierney's goal has not gone unnoticed.

The Scotland international alongside Bukayo Saka (two), Alexandre Lacazette and Emile Smith Rowe were all on target in an emphatic victory for the Gunners on Boxing Day.

Tierney's goal came shortly before half-time as he latched onto Martin Odegaard's pass, took one touch before firing the ball into the bottom corner and doubled Arsenal's lead in the process.

However, it's what happened long before the ball reached the left-back that has impressed some supporters equally.

After Odegaard had initially lost possession with Arsenal on the attack, it was Martinelli who chased back to win the ball back.

What made this moment all the more impressive was the Brazilian's starting position.

Operating from the left-hand side at Carrow Road, he sprinted across the pitch to ensure the Gunners regained possession through Benjamin White in the right-back position and then began the move that ended with Tierney scoring.

Whilst most of the credit for the goal has been shared between Tierney and Odegaard, many Arsenal fans have reserved special praise for Martinelli.

Take a look at what's been said on Twitter...

@janjay4lyf said: "This goal was all Martinelli, his will to win the ball back was very impressive."

@SeaaaaMannnn said: "Kudos to Martinelli for winning the ball back after he chased down the Norwich player from the other end of the field."

@Irerichie said: "Not forgetting to also give credit to @gabimartinelli for regaining possession that led to that attack!"
