Arsenal fans loved what Gabriel Martinelli did after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's late miss

Gabriel Martinelli wasn't on the pitch for too long against Olympiacos, but he did something to impress many Arsenal supporters.

The Brazilian replaced Alexandre Lacazette at the start of second half extra-time at the Emirates Stadium as the Gunners searched for an equaliser on the night to book a place in the Europa League round of 16.

They got it through captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, although they conceded a second with a minute remaining as Youssef El-Arabi escaped the attentions of David Luiz and Sokratis to restore the visitors' lead.

Arteta believes Aubameyang doesn't need titles to be considered world-class

That proved to be the difference as the Greek outfit progressed by virtue of the away goals rule.

However, Aubameyang did miss a great chance to send Arsenal through.

As seen in the image below, when Aubameyang slices his effort wide of the post he immediately falls to his knees as he realises he's just missed a great chance.

And the player who help the captain up was Martnelli.

This prompted a big reaction from Gunners supporters on social media as the young Brazilian's classy act did not go unnoticed.

Take a look at what was said on Twitter...

Speaking after the game, head coach Mikel Arteta acknowledged the task at hand to lift up Aubameyang and the rest of squad for the remainder of the season.

"I've seen all the boys, i know how much they wanted this competition," Arteta told reporters. "I've seen today the way they fight, the way we try to play.

"It's a difficult one to digest as a team and club but this is football.

"Sometimes it's very cruel when the emotions are right here and in one minute the emotions are right here.

"You have to be able to handle that if you want to be in this industry.

"Now it's up to us and up to me to lift the players back in and move forward."
