Arsenal fans left redfaced as Michael Carrick jibe backfires after Manchester United defeat

A group of Arsenal fans have been left redfaced as their lighthearted joke towards Manchester United backfired as the Reds won 3-2.

Well-known fan reaction YouTube channel, Arsenal Fan TV, jumped on the latest trend and posted it on TikTok making fun of Ralf Rangnick's absence from the dugout and having Michael Carrick as the stand-in.

Despite taking the lead through Emile Smith Rowe, the Gunners saw their lead snatched off them when Bruno Fernandes fired home late in the first half before two second-half goals from Cristiano Ronaldo cancelled out Martin Odegaard's strike to give United the three points.

The win saw the Reds move to within three points of the top four, two behind Thursday's opponents as Michael Carrick picked up his first and only Premier League win as United boss.

But following the match, he stepped down and departed his role with Rangnick entering the fray, succeeding Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on an interim basis.

In the latest craze that is taking over the social media platform, it shows one bobbing their head to a scenario before panning to the side with others doing the same movement.

Arsenal Fan TV posted a TikTok that read: "When Man United appoint Ralf Rangnick as manager..."

Before the video continues: "... But Michael Carrick is still in charge against Arsenal!"

The video in jest has left them redfaced as their hopes of a win going into the clash at Old Trafford slipped away thanks to Ronaldo's double.

Some couldn't wait to have the last laugh with one user commenting: "Who's here after Ronaldo did the SIUUUUUUU against them?"

Whilst one fan poked fun saying: "WHO'S DANCING NOW LADS?"

Rangnick will be in the dugout for the visit of Crystal Palace on Sunday and United will be without 40-year-old Carrick who left after the win.
