Arsenal fans identify exciting Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka connection

Arsenal fans have reasons to be cheerful this week following victory against Newcastle United in the Premier League on Monday.

It has been a turbulent season for Mikel Arteta's side so far, which included a spell flirting with the relegation zone before a recent upturn in form.

The rebuild for Arteta at the Emirates Stadium, quite clearly, has a lot of work still to be done but there have been some rather encouraging signs.

Following on from Bukayo Saka's breakthrough into the first-team last term, another Hale End academy graduate has impressed this season - with Emile Smith Rowe grabbing his opportunities with both hands.

Mikel Arteta press conference after win vs Newcastle United

The 20-year-old caught the eye against Newcastle, providing the assist for the second goal as Saka sweeped home to double Arsenal's lead.

Fans have now identified that the assists for Saka's last three Premier League goals have come via Smith Rowe, who has three assists in the league this season.

That suggests that an exciting partnership between the two youngsters is blossoming, potentially providing Arsenal with a platform to build upon in the future.

Mesut Ozil's exit from north London has now fully passed the mantle of creative key to a new generation, with Smith Rowe answering the cries for a midfielder to emerge to pull the strings in the final third.

With Kieran Tierney, Thomas Partey and Gabriel Magalhaes also showing plenty of signs of promise, the Gunners may be starting to find their rhythm.

Arsenal have a proud history of academy graduates becoming stars in their own right, with Cesc Fabregas, Ashley Cole and Ray Parlour among the honours list.
