Arsenal fans heading to Liverpool face travel chaos over trains at London Euston station

Arsenal face Liverpool in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup tonight.

However, the away end at Anfield could be a little thin - and not because of any planned supporter protest against head coach Unai Emery following some poor results this season.

Rather because there are issues with the trains.

A statement on the national rail website reads: "Major disruption between Rugby and Northampton / Milton Keynes Central expected until the end of the day.

"A broken down train between Rugby and Wolverton and a power failure resulting in signalling problems in the Northampton area are causing major disruption to trains between Rugby and Milton Keynes Central.

"Trains may be delayed by up to 60 minutes or cancelled. Trains are now once again able to run between Rugby and Milton Keynes Central via the main lines, but the route via Northampton is still blocked.

"Disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day."

This is affecting the following routes:

London Northwestern Railway between Liverpool Lime Street / Crewe / Rugeley Trent Valley and London Euston.

Virgin Trains between Glasgow Central / Edinburgh / Liverpool Lime Street / Manchester Piccadilly / Birmingham New Street and London Euston.

As a result, this is proving to me a huge issue for Arsenal fans travelling from London Euston to Liverpool Lime Street.

Football.london contacted Network Rail for an update on the situation and they are advising those travelling to Liverpool to check with their train provider before making the journey.

For more details on possible compensation and delays, check on nationalrail.co.uk.
