Arsenal fans have Andre Onana transfer theory as 'leaked' images of 2021/22 home kit emerge

Arsenal supporters have an interesting transfer theory as they have been reacting to 'leaked' images of the 2021/22 home kit.

The colours of the supposed new shirt is the traditional Gunners' red and white, but the design is slightly different to what we've seen in the past.

Arsenal's 2020/21 shirt was also red and white, but the sleeves were the main white part of the kit. However, the image of the 'leaked' jersey - which can be seen on Reddit here - show white going down the hip section as well - very similar to what we see Ajax wear usually.

With the Gunners interested in signing Andre Onana from the Dutch giants this summer, the north London club's supporters have come up with a tongue-in-cheek theory about the supposed new shirt.

Onana is Arsenal's first choice goalkeeping target this summer, football.london understands, with the club keen to replace Bernd Leno with the Ajax star.

However, the deal looks to be more complicated than usual - with the Cameroon goalkeeper currently serving a doping ban.

The ban, for finding banned substance Furomeside in his urine sample, was initially supposed to be 12 months, but has since been reduced to nine by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The 25-year-old will be allowed to start training again on September 4, but will not be allowed to take part in competitive football until two months later - November 4.

Leno has been linked with a move away from the Gunners in recent months after a disappointing 2020/21 campaign for the German goalkeeper.

Onana established himself as one of the finest goalkeeping talents in European football prior to being banned in February - and Ajax have seemingly accepted he will be leaving Amsterdam this summer.

Ajax Director of Football, and former Arsenal star, Marc Overmars, said this to NOS last month: “We have not stopped the (contract) negotiations for nothing. I think it is likely that he will leave in the summer.”

Onana sees his contract at the Johan Cruijff Arena expire next summer, meaning Arsenal could get the goalkeeper for a reduced price.
