Arsenal fans have a Shkodran Mustafi theory following early own goal in Liverpool goal fest

Arsenal are currently in Carabao Cup fourth round action as they look to make it past league leaders Liverpool and book their place into the quarter finals of the competition.

The game didn't start in the ideal way for the Gunners, as defender Shkodran Mustafi managed to turn the ball past his own goalkeeper to give the Reds the lead.

Arsenal fans would have been forgiven for thinking that it could be a long way back against a team that has not lost at home for 13 months, however goals from Lucas Torreira and a double from Gabriel Martinelli turned the match on its head during the first half.

A James Milner penalty just before half time reduced the deficit to just one goal, setting the match up for an entertaining second half.

The second half has not failed to live up to the hype thanks to goals from Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Divock Orig.

Some Arsenal fans have not been happy with recent performances and results. The Gunners lost a two goal lead against Crystal Palace at the weekend, drawing the match 2-2.

That result, coupled with the actions of his captain Granit Xhaka, increased the pressure on Gunners boss Unai Emery, with a section of fans calling for the Spaniard to leave the Emirates Stadium.

Fans who would like to see the manager leave his position came up with a tongue in cheek theory following Mustafi's early own goal, which now seems like a very long time ago.

Take a look at what they had to say below:

Shoud the score remain as a draw, a penalty shootout will decide who makes it to the quarter final.
