Arsenal fans direct chant at Mikel Arteta after Tottenham score third in derby

Arsenal were battered by Tottenham in the North London Derby on Thursday night.

Harry Kane opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Rob Holding picked up a second yellow card for elbowing Son Heung-min and was given his marching orders.

Kane quickly made it 2-0 to Spurs before the break and the home side maintained their intensity in the second half with Son finding the back of the net to put Tottenham three ahead.

Mikel Arteta could only look on in disbelief from the touchline as his game plan and hopes of securing Champions League football this Thursday night crumbled before his eyes.

But the Gunners manager would have been buoyed by the chants coming from the travelling Arsenal fans inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Despite the scoreline against their bitter rivals, Arsenal fans could be heard singing: "We've got Super Mik Arteta."

It's not a huge gesture on the surface, but it speaks volumes for what Arteta has done at Arsenal since taking the reins from Unai Emery and restoring a level of harmony.

When Arteta first took his place in the Arsenal hot seat he was under incredible pressure to not only improve results but to improve the atmosphere around the club.

Things haven't always been a walk in the park for the Spaniard, but the Gunners are now in a great position to qualify for the Champions League next season and fans are pleased with the football being served up.
