Arsenal fans demand Alexandre Lacazette transfer decision as wonderkid rejects contract offer

Here's all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Player ratings vs Southampton

Arsenal put a miserable few days behind them to seal a much needed 2-0 win over Southampton.

Goals in either half from academy graduates Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock secured all three points on the south coast and moved the Gunners back into the top half of the table.

There was even a rare clean sheet away from home for Mikel Arteta's side to celebrate.

As expected, Nketiah scored high in the ratings, as did defender Rob Holding who looked comfortable on just his second Premier League start of the season.

But how did the rest of the team fare?

Arteta transcript

The Gunners head coach faced the media following the Southampton game and the main talking point from his press conference was about Nketiah's performance.

"Eddie since I joined, the maturity and personality that he plays [with in] very game is incredible. I demand a lot from the forward players to put the opponent under pressure and they've done it. A lot of the goals we score are because of the errors we force on the opponent.

"In that heat to keep chasing players and putting them under pressure, sometimes it's not a nice thing to do but when you get a goal and the mistakes they [Southampton] done that could have led to a few other goals, it's really important.

"It generates belief in what they do and pays the price a little for the effort it makes.

"I am happy with Eddie, the way he's played today again, but I am happy with the team and I'm really happy with the subs, the way they came and how much they helped the team and the attitude that they showed today."

Tormey exit

Youngster Nathan Tormey has announced his departure from Arsenal after turning down a new contract offer.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who had been on the Gunners' books since a young age, was presented with the offer of a new three-year deal but he has made the decision to reject the offer and will now officially leave the north london outfit when his deal expires on June 30.

Announcing the news of his exit from the Emirates Stadium, Tormey wrote on Twitter: "I appreciate the offer of a new 3-year contract but I feel now is the time for me to move on.

Fans want Lacazette sold

Ahead of the transfer window opening, football.london handed Arsenal supporters the opportunity to take part in a unique poll to decide which players the club should look to offload and keep this summer.

As expected, the results have drawn up some very interesting conclusions as it is safe to say that most of the supporters want a complete revamp as far as the first-team squad is concerned.

The supporters have voted to see up to 13 first-team stars, including the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil, offloaded, as they demand that Arteta oversees a summer of transformation.

According to our poll, striker Lacazette is the player that Arsenal's fans want to see sold most this summer, with 44.9 per cent of supporters voting for him to be offloaded.

Closely behind the Frenchman was central-defender Konstantinos Mavropanos with 39.7 per cent.

Shortly behind Mavropanos is Sokratis, with 38.5 per cent. Cedric Soares, though it is unlikely after just signing a new contract, came home in fourth place.
