Arsenal fans could get their wish amid talk of Real Madrid midfielder's transfer u-turn

Isco is reportedly set to perform a u-turn regarding his Real Madrid future.

The Spain international looked set to leave the La Liga giants during the January transfer window and was even linked with a move to Arsenal as part of Mikel Arteta and Edu's mission to sign a creative midfielder.

It's was widely reported that the north London outfit were keen to bring Isco to the Emirates Stadium for the second half of the season.

According to the Press Association, any deal bringing the Spaniard to north London would have been a half-season loan and Real Madrid would have had to pay a percentage of his wage.

However, the Gunners ended up signing Isco's teammate Martin Odegaard on loan.

And the playmaker has already made quite the impression during his short time at the Emirates Stadium, hence why there is already talk of a permanent transfer in the summer.

The Norwegian has since made seven appearances for Arsenal and whilst he yet to contribute with a goal or an assist, his influence has been felt, playing a part in the build-up to a number of goals, including one from Nicolas Pepe last time out in the 3-1 win over Leicester City.

Interestingly, Odegaard may have dropped a hint over his future.

As spotted by many eagle-eyed Arsenal supporters on Reddit, the 22-year-old has changed his Instagram profile picture to one of him in his Gunners No.11 shirt.

Previously, his Instagram profile picture was of him in a Norway shirt - even during his time at Real Madrid and Real Sociedad - or at least for the last year.

This subtle change sent some Gunners fans into a transfer frenzy as it is clear that many wish to see Odegaard sign permanently at the end of the season.

The problem with this plan is that reports claim Real Madrid are understood to be keen to keep their talented playmaker.

With that said, Isco's potential u-turn could change things.

According to AS, Zinedine Zidane's decision to hand the Spaniard a start against Atalanta in the Champions League as well as the La Liga clash with Real Sociedad might 'affect' Isco's future.

In addition, the report states that the 28-year-old was willing to leave Real Madrid in the summer but could now change his mind if he continues to feature regularly.

Should Isco stay, that could hand Arsenal a boost regarding signing Odegaard permanently as there may not be room for both players in Zidane's plans for next season.
