Arsenal fans convinced summer transfer is confirmed after repeat of Jadon Sancho Instagram hint

Arsenal supporters took to social media after joking about a supposed transfer hint about Thomas Partey from defender Sokratis.

The Gunners are busy planning their summer transfer activity as head coach Mikel Arteta looks to reshape the squad ahead of his first full season at the Emirates.

One of the areas which Arteta is thought to be keen on strengthening is central-midfield, with the Gunners poised to lose Dani Ceballos when his loan spell from Real Madrid expires at the end of the season.

Among the names linked is Atletico star Partey, who has established himself one of Europe's top holding midfielders in recent seasons.

There has been a series of mixed messages in Arsenal's pursuit of the Ghana international, who has been on Atletico's books since 2012, with his father revealing on Tuesday that the midfielder was locked in talks with the Gunners before his representatives quickly distinguished those claims.

However, whilst it remains unknown if talks have finally got underway, the midfield enforcer's name is not too far away from a switch to the Emirates.

And Gunners centre-back Sokratis appeared to drop a tongue-in-cheek hint about the Gunners' links with the 26-year-old midfielder.

In an Instagram live video, an Arsenal supporter asked the Greek defender, who has netted two goals this season, to smile if the club are going to sign Partey.

In response to that question, the centre-back, out-of-contract at the end of next season, smiled for the camera and it was captured by one Gunners supporter, which led to fans taking to social media.

The incident was reminiscent of a hint that Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho seemingly dropped on an Instagram video this month.

One fan wrote to the England international saying: "Sip water if your (sp) joining united."

Sancho appears to consider this for a moment, before taking a big gulp of his bottled water.
