Arsenal fans convinced Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will sign new contract after Instagram hint

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's Arsenal future is a hot topic right now.

The Gabon international, who joined Arsenal in January 2018 from German giants Borussia Dortmund for a then club-record transfer fee, is out-of-contract at the Emirates Stadium in just under a year's time and he is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.

Aubameyang has been the Gunners' star performer this season, netting 22 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions, including 19 in the Premier League, a record that can only be bettered by Leicester City's Jamie Vardy this season.

With the striker now into the final year of his current deal in North London, a whole host of clubs across Europe are being linked with a move for the 31-year-old, who helped Arsenal record a fourth successive win on Saturday evening as they defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at Molineux.

Mikel Arteta on what gives him confidence Aubameyang will stay

Amongst those to have been heavily linked with the striker are the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris-Saint Germain.

However, Arsenal are confident that they can retain the services of the former Dortmund man, with head coach Mikel Arteta, certainly over the past week, expressing plenty of confidence that he will sign a new deal at the Emirates Stadium.

“It is the way that I feel, the way that I communicate with him, the conversations I have with him and the people around him,” Arteta said last week.

“It is the energy I sense. It is just my opinion, things change in football very quickly, but when you ask me in that moment how I feel about Auba’s future, in this moment I feel that he wants to continue with us and keep developing and help us to become a better team.”

On Sunday evening, Aubameyang took part in an Instagram Live, which attracted a whole host of questions and comments from Arsenal fans watching.

And one Gunners supporter put the ultimate question to Aubameyang about his future at the club.

Somebody posted: "Blink if you're gunna sign [a new contract]."

Much to the delight of Arsenal's supporters, the striker, who will be aiming to help the Gunners record a fifth successive win when they face Leicester at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night, did blink in response, fuelling hope that he will soon commit his future to the club.

Has Arteta has reiterated in recent weeks, Arsenal are desperate to retain his services.

Ever since arriving in the Premier League two-and-a-half years ago, Aubameyang has been one of the deadliest strikers the league has seen in years, already racking up a half century of Premier League goals.
