Arsenal fans cannot believe Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's new look ahead of contract announcement

Arsenal are close to agreeing a new contract with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners striker's current deal at the Emirates expires at the end of next season, but football.london understands an agreement on a new three-year contract is close.

Aubameyang is set to receive a pay rise with his new deal worth in excess of £250,000-a-week to underline his importance at the club.

Arsenal had long been optimistic that their club captain would agree to extend his stay but having an agreement in place early in the brief window between seasons will allow the Gunners to push forward with the ambitious rebuild  Mikel Arteta wants.

And ahead of a possible announcement of Aubameyang's new deal this week, the striker was spotted on social media with a new look.

On his brother Wily's Instagram live video on Monday, Aubameyang can be seen wearing the new Arsenal shirt for next season, with his hair dyed red and white.

And Arsenal fans were quick to comment on the striker's new hair on Twitter, with one writing: "Announcement coming soon."

Another posted: "Now this is a definition of a true Gunners player who's really showing commitment."

A third tweeted: "He can retire a legend at Arsenal ... Finally someone. It's been a looooong time."

Speaking after Aubameyang's brace fired Arsenal to victory in the FA Cup final against Chelsea, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta confirmed he wanted to build his side around the Gabon international.

“He knows what I think about him, I want to build a squad around him,” said Arsenal’s manager. “I want him to stay, it's about getting the deal done.

“I think moments like this will help him to believe we are on the right path and he is a big part of it.

"He is loved by everyone at the club. I think he will [stay].”
